Feel good about your closet.

Community Exchange for Change is a 5013c non-profit dedicated to bringing people together, sharing free fashion with you and your family, and learning about ways to help the planet.

We welcome clothing donations on the day of our events. Take a look at our donation guide.

Our Mission

Community Exchange for Change offers free, conscientious, community-focused clothing events and education that promote sustainability, inspire confidence, and joyfully support individuals and the planet.

Our Vision

We are becoming a growing community committed to eliminating the human and environmental harm of the textile industry through an inclusive, closed-loop textile economy.

How we started

When our founder attended a clothing swap with 10 friends, in support of another non- profit, the idea for Community Exchange for Change was born. The group instantly saw all the ways swaps could help people and the planet. Danielle wanted to create an intentional community of people who believe in taking care of each other and the planet.

With friends and family, Danielle held her first swap at her house in 2018. The board came together in 2019 to scale and codify the CE4C approach, and the first Community Exchange for Change one-day swap in 2019 welcomed 70 people donating clothes, 50 people scoring free gear, and attracted our first media coverage.

From there, each event has grown. At the latest Community Exchange for Change 2-day event, we hosted 123 attendees, and donated 22 huge bags of quality clothing to 3 different organizations, as well as 1 substantial box of non-perishable food. Old things became new to someone else, and new friends were made over the love of new-to-me freebies.

We are proud to be a size- and gender-inclusive community welcoming all people looking for clothes.
